Hair bows!

First: I love my baby girl so much. I love all her sweet clothes. I love dressing her up in those sweet outfits with matching shoes, socks, and most of all... HAIR BOWS! I love big hair bows on tiny babies. I also love my darling boys, but dressing up a boy just isn't quite as fun. (More fun now that I am looking for outfits to match their sisters.) Second: I am frugal. I would like to be less frugal but our budget requires it and honestly it is just part of who I am. I would love to be able to just pay for things to save me the time and hassle (and once in a while I do) but sometimes I just can't rationalize paying someone to do something I technically can do myself. For example: Personal Chef (I kind of like cooking but with 3 kids under 4 isn't super fun these days), Landscapers (while I like the little tan I get, I don't like really like sweating or the dirt under my nails), Diaper Service (I like my bum genius diapers but I don't love washing those poo stained things), and the list goes on... On this list: Hair Bows. I will be honest, I have bought a few hair bows off of eBay, generously received some as gifts, bought a few at a garage sale and even have some hand-me-down bows. BUT, while packing away Kinley's winter wardrobe and arranging her spring and summer outfits I discovered she had quite a few that did not match any of the bows hanging on her bow holders. AHHHH! So last week, I made a trip to Hobby Lobby (a seriously dangerous place for me and my wallet) and bought several spools of ribbon. Don't worry, it was on sale at 50% off :)
I attempted several times to make some bows. All Epic Fails (I learned that term from the kids at school--I like it!) Seriously. A little hair bow could not be this complicated. Me, the person with a college degree in ART could not make a decent looking hair bow. I watched tutorials on YouTube...fail. I studied the professional hairbows I bought...fail. After listening to my husband gripe about the pile of yards of ribbon, blobs of dried hot glue, clippies, fraycheck, and lopsided bows on my kitchen counter several times (and rightfully so...it is quite a pile), I started cleaning it up today. Then I started thinking, if I put this stuff away, it will probably never come out again. So I decided to plug in the glue gun and try again. Finally, SUCCESS! Amidst a pounding headache, potty training, and laundry, I finally created a decent looking hair bow. Now, I will not be quitting my job to make and sell bows, but I won't be totally embarrassed to put them on Kinley either. So here are a couple of the winners (and some losers). Now I need to make another trip to Hobby Lobby!

Love this one--she has several outfits to match it!

I love pink and lime green together!
Well I like the colors but it just isn't cute...fail!
X marks the spot! I like the "tails" on bows but couldn't get them right so no more tails...fail!
