The boys both really love Kinley~they want to touch her all the time~rub her head, give her kisses, and grab her hands. I know eventually the newness will wear off but it is cute to see them pay so much attention to her.
On September 15, we were blessed with a healthy baby girl Kinley Grace. She was 7 lbs 6 oz, 20.5 inches long. She was delivered by c-section, just as the boys were. These three surgeries have been my only. I have never had anesthesia or any kind of surgery--not even dental work! So I was shaky and scared just as I was with the others. For Camden's, I was a little out of it after the 30+ hours of labor, sleep deprivation, and hunger so I think I remember less of the trauma although the recovery was a bear. With Clayton's I was freaked out having to walk myself into the OR and hop up onto the table. Seeing everything lying out for surgery and everyone in their scrubs in the stark OR was a little unnerving---no one warned me of this part! With Kinley I felt more prepared and knew more of what to expect, but it was still scary. I worried so much about the boys being taken care of and understanding why I wasn't there with them those four days. But my Awesome God knew exactly what I needed that Sunday previous to the delivery. In church they did a reading of Jeremiah 29:11-13~ For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
This was my comfort those next three days and I recited it to myself countless times. After Kinley was born, we were taken back to a recovery room where the grandparents and some of her aunts were able to hold her for a few minutes. During this time, I unknowingly was hemorrhaging. Thankfully a nurse and the on-call doctor caught it before too much time had passed and were able to stop it. Apparently my uterus relaxed instead of contracting causing me to bleed. Paul was in the room at the time but left to make room for all the people working on me and to keep from passing out (he says it wasn't the blood but the stress). How they were able to get it to stop was extremely painful since my spinal epidural had worn off of my torso but I am thankful it worked. After lying flat on my back that entire day, the bleeding stopped and I was able avoid a transfusion. In the end, the overall delivery was worth the pain to hold the baby girl I had prayed for!
The boys are really enjoying the pool this summer. They have lots of confidence swimming on their own. Clayton loves to jump in from the side and Camden is so proud that he can float on his back and even swim to the deep end.
Camden did really well bowling for the first time. He actually was not the lowest score! He played with his bowling set at home at lot after that. I am seeing a bowling birthday party in the future!
